Discovering Nature Nearby: Lovin' Lichen
In this Discovering Nature Nearby educational program, the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens invites you to learn from and love on the world of lichen!
Join experts Bonnie Nackino, Doug Ganyo, and Laurel Kaminsky on February 15th at 10 a.m. for an engaging and educational exploration of the fascinating world of lichens. This program will begin with a brief introduction in the picnic area, followed by our guides leading a short hike on the trails in which they will point out and discuss the diverse lichens found within the trails. Learn about the unique symbiotic relationship that makes up a lichen, their ecological importance, and how to identify some common species.
Accessibility Note: this educational tour will involve walking on natural trails, some of which may not be fully ADA accessible due to uneven terrain. However, there will be ADA accessible portions of the program, such as the initial gathering at the picnic area.
