In this Discovering Nature Nearby educational program, the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens invites you to learn from experts on the unique habits of the Arboretum’s signature bird, the barred owl, and other owls that claim Northeast Florida as their home!
Join us at the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens for a Sip & Prowl adventure through our trails as we explore the secret lives of the Arboretum’s signature barred owl and other local owls that call Northeast Florida home. Expert Jennifer Brinkworth from SWCA Environmental Consultants will guide us through the woods, sharing fascinating facts about these mysterious night creatures. Wine, beer, and other refreshments will be available for purchase as you explore — nature has never tasted so good!
Accessibility Note: this educational tour will involve walking on natural trails, some of which may not be fully ADA accessible due to uneven terrain. However, there will be ADA accessible portions of the program, such as the initial gathering at the picnic area.
About Your Guide
Mrs. Jennifer Brinkworth is an environmental scientist with SWCA, having 8 years of experience in environmental permitting, ecological and wildlife surveys and monitoring, technical reporting, threatened and endangered species assessments and consultations within the southeast and Gulf coast. Her expertise is with birds and is adept with eastern North American bird Identification. She has experience with Bald Eagle surveying and monitoring, Crested Caracara Surveying, and is currently managing an Everglade Snail Kite Monitoring project.
