Honoring a Dear Friend to the Arboretum

On behalf of the JABG Board of Directors, staff and our core garden volunteers, we wanted to spotlight a very beloved volunteer and member of our Arboretum family, Russ Watson, who passed away in November, 2025.

Russ has been a steady and joyful presence at the Arboretum for the past four years, showing up every Wednesday morning without fail to our volunteer workdays and stepping in wherever help was needed, whether for daily tasks, special events, or the unexpected moments in between.

Russ was more than a dedicated volunteer; he was a source of warmth, humor, and encouragement. He had a unique gift for lifting spirits, and his absence leaves a quiet space that will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His hard work, his heart, and his unwavering positivity touched our staff, fellow volunteers, and visitors. We are profoundly grateful for the time he spent with us and for the difference he made in our community.

He is deeply missed — we encourage everyone to cherish time with loved ones and appreciate each moment together!
